Hocus Pocus is a great movie to watch on Halloween. It can be scary at times but is made for children ages 11+. The movie is about a boy named Max (Omri Katz) and his family. They have just moved from Los Angeles where  Halloween isn’t much of a thing. But where they live now everyone believes all the stories that are told. One in particular is very special. It is about how a boy named Thackery (Sean Murray) tried to save his sister Emily (Jodie-Amy Rivera) from the 3 Sanderson Sisters Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy) that wanted her soul so they could be younger. Thackery was turned into a cat and was to live in sin forever. When the witches were hanged by the town people the witches last words were a spell that stated that they would return in three hundred years on Hallows Eve. Three hundred years later Max, his sister Dani (Thora Birch), and Allison (Vinessa Shaw) a girl from Max’s school. They go explore an abandoned house on Halloween. Max lights a candle that brings the witches back. When they emerged they were ready to suck more children’s souls so they could be younger and live for ever. Max and his friends have to figure out how to stop the witches and make sure they never come back to disturb anyone again.

I think that this is a really good movie for Halloween night.I’d would recommend watching it when you come back from trick-or-treating. The movie is so good I could probably watch it many times and not be bored of it. It think it would be appropriate for kids 8+. It is also a good movie to watch with your family. I’d rate it 4.5 out of 5.
